OUT OF MY MIND by Sharon Draper

In the book Out of My Mind By Sharon Draper it really empasizes the life of a girl named Melody who eventually realizes she is no different from the other kids that are around her despite the disability that she does have. The disabilty that she has is Cerebal Palsy which causes her to not be able to talk, to walk or even write. She is not able to share what she feels or the ideas that she has had bottled up for 11 years. She soon finds a way to allow her talk, that just goes to show when you really want to achieve something and set your mind to it, you can do it. Melody is determined to be as independent as possible in spite of the way she grew up.

This book was able to shed light on what people with disablitys go through every single day. It shows that others with disabilties are always aware of what is going on even when they are unable to communicate their thoughts back to you. Personally, it was a different perspective for me because it was talking about what they would go through every single day.

This book is a realistic fiction novel, which no illustrations beside the cover were involved. I would recommend this book to middle schoolers because this is the age that they really start noticing everything about another person, which will hopefully help them see how others should be treated. I really enjoyed reading this book and would love to recommend this book to anyone that I could.
