Huigsloot and George have that star quality

Luke Huigsloot won the 2022 Vic Tuting Medal as the best player in the Men’s Southern Championship competition.

The New Town White Eagles midfielder scored 21 goals in the 15 games he played this season.

Eagles’ coach, Tommy Fotak, was voted coach-of-the-year and he has now coached Eagles to two consecutive league titles.

George Ivanov of University was the Golden Boot winner, scoring 29 goals in 18 appearances.

Mikalha George won the Southern Women’s Championship best player award.

She also won the Golden Boot Award for the league’s top scorer, having netted 31 goals in just 12 appearances.

Glenorchy Knights’ Ivica Bolonja was the coach-of-the-year in the Women’s Southern Championship competition.

Daniel Arnaiz was the southern Under-18s best and fairest, as well as the Golden Boot winner.

Josh Berry and Khye Howe were the Southern Championship Referee of the Year and the Young Referee of the Year, respectively.

Steffanie Deffara of Nelson Eastern Suburbs was the best women’s player in the Women’s Championship 1 competition, while Callum Back of New Town Eagles was the Men’s Championship 1 player of the year.
